Ultra runners training camp


Join Jayson and Kim Cavill along with other special guests for an inspiring 2 day Ultra running training camp set on the edge of the stunning North Yorkshire Moors.

We are really excited to be providing aspiring and experienced ultra runners, from beginner to expert, with a foundation of information and training towards helping them achieve success in their own Ultra running goals.


A mixture of practical and theory based workshops provided by Jayson and Kim as well as other experienced ultra runners and professionals, the weekend will cover a fundamental range of subjects, based on an variety of sources and proven principles, all of which have added to our own and others extremely successful results and experiences.

This will be delivered in a comfortable indoors environment and also practical sessions either outside or inside, depending on the weather and subject, plus some group runs either in the forest or over the moors.


We want people to gain as much as possible over the camp: sharing knowledge and experience will be at the heart of what we deliver.

The evenings will be kept fairly open for socialising and exchanging stories, in either the local tavern or bistro, plus various opportunities to watch some inspiring Ultra running movies on a big screen. 

We will also have a selection of equipment, packs, trainers, jackets and poles for people to test when out and about (courtesy of The Ultra Runner store, Montane, Scott, Mountain king and others TBC)

To ensure that we can give each person the time and quality they deserve, numbers will be limited.


Dates & Timings

We have had such positive interest from so many people who would like to come, however we are keen to retain the quality and intimacy of the camp, therefore there will now be two separate camps on different weekends.

Camp 1 – Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th of January

Camp 2 – Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd of January


The format will be identical for each so the choice is down to you and when you want to get started!

Estimated Timings

Friday evening – No plans, just arrive and settle (YH will be open from 4pm)

Saturday – 9 am to 5pm

Sunday – 9 am to 4pm (ish)

9 am starts are so that anyone who wants can take part in a optional short early morning run (other runs are planned during the day) It will also allow anyone not staying in the village time to commute.


Taking place in the village of Lockton on the outskirts of the North Yorkshire moors and Dalby forest – easily accessible from a main road (useful in January!)

Indoor Time

All theory and indoor activities will be carried out in Lockton village hall – being well maintained, with ample space and good heating this is a great place to center the activities from over for the weekend, kitchen facilities will also be available to use throughout the day.



Overnight Accommodation is optional;

With accommodation – This will be in the village youth hostel only a hundred meters from the village hall, the hostel has a really nice feel with a very comfortable lounge area including wood burning fire and big leather sofas great for relaxing, great facilities and space for wet gear/drying room – having checked it out for suitability we feel the website photos really don`t do it justice! – For more click details Here

Without accommodation – people are welcome to attend having found there own accommodation or commuting locally – a list of local bed & breakfast and holiday cottages in the village can be found here


What to bring

A guide and recommended kit list will be issued nearer the time of the event, this will obviously be weather dependent but I am sure you will get chance to test out and christen all of your new Christmas presents

It will also be great if you can bring an open mind, willingness to learn, great attitude and even a sense of humour.



For 2 days training (per camp), access to all sessions and speakers, guided runs, training plan template and equipment testing

Including 2 nights youth hostel accommodation £105 (20 places)

Without accommodation (ie you are local or book one of the B&B or holiday cottages) £90 (10 places)

Tea, coffee and refreshments (homemade cake and selection of Chia Charge bars) will also be provided throughout both days but catering and meals will be down to the individual – though sufficient time will be allocated for food!

If there is enough interest we can also arrange a group meal in the local Bistro who are really excited to welcome us all (it really is nice a cossy place)
